SALE "Blue Eyes Cryin' in The Rain" - Willie Nelson Portrait
25 x 17 FINE ART PRINT (supplies limited)
A few years ago, a local television station called me in the middle of the day. They wanted to schedule a live interview with me the next morning. Apparently, Forbes had ranked Nashville as the 3rd most creative city in the country that year. At the time, I only had a few paintings on hand and thought I better have something fresh and new to show as well. Since I paint music and all things “Music City,” and since the segment focused on creativity in Nashville, I decided to paint Willie Nelson. While I was in high school, I worked at the old Opryland USA country music theme park in Nashville. This was right around the time when pop country was starting. But I was never a fan of that genre. I got to listen to a lot of Willie during my time at Opryland. I like him because he’s known for his “outlaw” country music.
Few things represent Music City and its creativity like Willie Nelson. So, that night at 6:30, I started this project. By 5:15 the next morning, I was in the studio of the local television station with Willie, Ray Charles, and a few smaller paintings ready for the interview. By 7:00 a.m., I was at my office for work. It was a whirlwind of a painting gig, but it felt good. I work best under pressure like that anyway. It drives me and fuels my passion somehow. Original painting size is 24 x 36 and full-size (and smaller) giclee on canvas reproductions are available. Contact me for custom sizes.

Purple Rain
I painted this 48 x 48 canvas the day after Prince died. I’m a huge fan since childhood, so it hit me hard. His work has always been inspiring to me and I needed to thank him. So, I poured out my grief and gratitude through paint brushes – the best way I know how. I’ll never forget the first song of his that I heard. It was December 1982 and his first music video was released on MTV. He sang “1999” and I immediately loved the music, his voice, and the production.
As I followed his work over the years, I was struck by his talent and creativity. He ran parallel to another musical hero of mine, David Bowie. Prince played every instrument and was always reinventing himself. It was like every song could be categorized in a different genre. Like David Bowie, Prince could have picked any genre, look, or style and he still would have sold tickets and albums with little effort. But he liked changing things up and that’s a big appeal to me. He even stopped using his name for a while.
Everything Prince did was remarkable. In fact, someone once asked Eric Clapton what it was like to be the greatest guitar player in the world. Clapton answered, “I don’t know. Ask Prince.” As it turns out, I have a mutual friend with the guitarist from The Revolution (Prince’s band), Dez Dickerson. Dez saw the painting and is using it in a documentary he’s making about Prince, including his music career and life. The original sold a while back, but I have several options available for sale.
Custom Sizes available all the way up to 38 x 38. Read more about it here.

SALE "Always On My Mind" - Willie Nelson
21 x 25 FINE ART PRINT (supplies limited)
When I was in high school, I worked in Nashville at Opryland USA amusement park for two years. This was in the early 1990s just before it permanently closed. They piped in old-school country music all over the park. I heard a lot of Willie Nelson there. I like him because he’s “outlaw country.” I’m not a fan of pop country. “Always On My Mind” was my favorite by him and I love that he’s a Music City icon.
When I first decided to jump into art, some family gave me a little start-up money to buy the good supplies I needed. Up to that point, I had only done tiny paintings and illustrations. But, I love change and decided that if I was going to do this, I may as well dive in head first. Willie Nelson was my first big painting and first sale. It was a huge portrait of nothing but Willie’s face on a 48” x 60” canvas. This was purely an experimental process to help me overcome my fears and doubts about painting and becoming a professional artist. I displayed the piece during a local art crawl. A couple purchased it that night and officially launched my art career. It was a huge boost to my confidence when I later discovered that they are serious art collectors with art from around the world.
In 2015 during the first Pilgrimage Festival near Nashville, I had the privilege of live-painting while Willie Nelson sang his outlaw country music. Initially, I was supposed to paint right in front of the stage, but at the last second, they moved me to a booth. I really didn’t care. I was just happy to be painting while one of my musical heroes performed right in front of me. It was definitely one of the high points in my art career. Original 48 x 60 giclee on canvas reproductions are available. This print is 27 x 21 with larger options upon request. Contact me for custom sizes.

Nashville Skyline
There was a time when Music City pressed down on originality. They wanted the same old country music wrapped in a package with tight boundaries. For years, major bands would avoid coming here because the city was full of music snobs. But they finally got over it. Now the level of creativity here is astounding! It just reminds me of cultural landmarks like San Francisco or Seattle.
Now, Nashville draws new people with new ideas and new technology. People from around the world are coming to Music City in droves to be writers, musicians, poets, artists, and more. The old Nashville is a thing of the past! I love music and I love Music City. I’ve always lived within 30-40 miles of it my whole life. That’s why I jumped at the invitation from the Nashville Junior League to paint the city skyline.
The original painting was auctioned off to benefit Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. I was initially told I had three hours to complete the painting. But when I arrived, I discovered I only had one hour! It was all good, though. An Australian auctioneer from Sotheby’s promoted the piece while I painted it just a few feet away from then Mayor Karl Dean. Learn more about this crazy and fun night on my blog. While the original is gone, I still offer reproductions. If you like the look and feel of an original, I can also recreate it as a textured, giclée reproduction on gallery wrapped canvas.
Giclee Reproductions on canvas are priced as follows:
30 x 48 (full size): $600
24 x 38: $420
15 x 24: $225
The included photos show the original, the print, and the full size giclee reproduction. Contact me for custom sizes.

Aston Martin Nashville – Guitar Number 1
This is one of three renditions of an Epiphone guitar with the Union Jack flag painted on it. It’s part of an original series created for an Aston Martin showroom in Nashville. I do a lot of live-painting at various concerts, fundraisers, and events. Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival is a local event held to raise funds for parks, artists, and musicians in the area. I set up a booth at their first festival in 2015. While musicians played for two days, I painted three guitars for the local luxury car dealership to display. They sell British luxury cars, including the iconic Aston Martin and Rolls Royce brands. Since the dealership is in Nashville (“Music City”) and I paint music, I decided to paint guitars for their display. After all, Epiphones have been used to play across most major music genres, including rhythm and blues, folk music, country music, and more. And since the dealership has a focus on British cars, I added the Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom. Typically, I use vibrant colors because I’m trying to convey some good thought or feeling I get from the artist I’m painting. In this case, the colors of the Aston Martin showroom were a bit calmer. So, I toned down the colors of the paintings to match the room color. Each painting is 24 x 48 acrylic on canvas. They are available individually or as a set. Contact me for the set.

Aston Martin Nashville – Guitar Number 2
This painting is one of three in an original series I created for a local luxury car dealership in Nashville. Each rendition of an Epiphone guitar includes the Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom. The dealership has a focus on British luxury cars and requested paintings for their Aston Martin showroom. To provide some context, this dealership has a special “VIP” room where guests who have spent $1M or more with them can wait for their oil to be changed. The first oil change is $5,000. And that’s where they wanted to hang my paintings!
So, I painted all three of them at the first annual Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival in Franklin, TN. This event, held just outside of Nashville, was a fundraiser for local parks, artists, and musicians. I painted them at a booth while Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow sang folk music, Steven Tyler performed his classic rock, and other musicians performed everything from jazz to country music. I settled on guitars since the dealership is in Nashville (“Music City”) and decided to add the Union Jack flag since they focused on British cars.
It’s hard to miss the difference in color schemes compared to my usual work that includes bold colors. But I went with these toned-down colors instead so that the paintings would match the showroom. Each painting is 24 x 48 acrylic on canvas. They are available individually or as a set. Contact me for the set.

Aston Martin Nashville – Guitar Number 3 (ORIGINAL)
This is one of three beautiful renditions of an Epiphone guitar with the Union Jack that I painted. The original series was created for a luxury car dealership in Nashville. They wanted the paintings for their Aston Martin showroom. I live-painted these at the first annual Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival in Franklin, just outside of Nashville, in 2015. I painted all three guitars over the course of two days while musicians like Willie Nelson and Weezer performed to raise funds for local parks, artists, and musicians. The dealership sells British luxury cars like Aston Martin and Rolls Royce. So, it made sense to add my favorite flag, the Union Jack, to each guitar rendering. I usually paint with bright and intense colors because I’m trying to convey some emotion or thought in my artwork. But the Aston Martin showroom at the dealership used muted colors. I didn’t want the paintings to clash, so I toned down my colors to match the room. Each painting is 24 x 48 acrylic on canvas. They are available individually or as a set. Contact me for the set.

"Born To Run" - Bruce Springsteen Portrait
A few years ago, I had about 10 pieces hanging at a gallery on Music Row in Nashville. The gallery director suggested I add another into the mix: Bruce Springsteen. Now, I’m not a huge Springsteen fan, but I appreciate his work. I also trusted the gallery director, so I followed his advice. I decided to add him to my "Giants of Rock" series that included Paul McCartney and Bob Dillon. I chose to add Springsteen to this series because I was experimenting with light and shadow.
During the painting process, I was also playing with a pouring technique. That involves mixing fluid acrylic paint with an airbrush medium and then spraying it with water and sometimes alcohol. That’s what gives this Bruce Springsteen portrait such a distinguished look. Not to mention that shadow on half his face! It turns out that the gallery director was right. That portrait quickly sold to a woman visiting Nashville from New York City. Later, she commissioned two more paintings from me. What’s available here are reproductions in various sizes.
Original painting size is 36 x 48 and full-size (and smaller) giclee on canvas reproductions are available. Contact me for custom sizes.

SALE "Harlinsdale Barn" x
25 x 13 FINE ART PRINT (supplies limited)
Located just outside of Nashville, this is the Harlinsdale barn in Franklin, TN. It used to be home to the World Grand Champion of Tennessee Walking Horses, Midnight Sun. To this day, most Walking Horses can trace their lineage back to Midnight Sun at Harlinsdale Farm. This iconic barn and property was opened to the public as a park through the city of Franklin in September 2007. In 2015, the first Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival was launched and hosted on this property. Even though I live in the outskirts of Music City, it’s still crazy to me that Pilgrimage at Harlinsdale – practically in my backyard – has hosted the likes of Justin Timberlake, Eddie Vedder, Hall & Oates, Willie Nelson, Cake, Beck, Weezer, and many more!
This barn is part of the heritage in Franklin and now Music City as well. So, I took a black and white photo of the barn and painted this one in my studio. I was going for an Andy Warhol look, but it’s still clearly my own style. When photographing an object for painting in my studio, I always use black and white so the color doesn’t influence my style. This 24 x 13 print is ready for matting. Contact me for custom sizes.

SALE "Gimmie Shelter" | Portrait of Keith Richards
25 x 19 FINE ART PRINT (supplies limited)
I’m a big Rolling Stones fan! Like The Beatles, they are one of those iconic bands who continues changing. I love that in musicians. Obviously, the Stones and The Beatles could not be more different in genres. But that kind of creativity gives me inspiration in my own work to keep trying new things and stretching myself as an artist. As for the Rolling Stones, I think “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” contains the single greatest guitar riff ever! Naturally, I had to paint Keith Richards.
I’m actually friends with the world-renowned photographer of this portrait, Barry Morganstein. This three-hour portrait was a live-painting project during an event at Refinery Nashville, located in the urban neighborhood Wedgewood-Houston, just two miles south of downtown Nashville. Print size is 19 x 25 and larger sizes are available upon request. Original painting size is 30 x 40 and full-size (and smaller) giclee on canvas reproductions are available. Contact me for custom sizes.

"Stray Cat Strut" | The Brian Setzer Gretsch Guitar
AS SEEN IN BRIAN SETZERS HOME STUDIOI’m a huge Brian Setzer fan! Whether he’s performing Rockabilly with the Stray Cats, Swing with Brian Setzer Orchestra, or solo, I don’t care. I love it all. Maybe it’s because he was influenced by so many of my heroes, including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Hank Williams. Setzer wasn’t a Hank fan, but his dad played the album when Brian was young. All those influences definitely explain his persistent Rockabilly style.
I remember when MTV launched in August 1981. The Stray Cats were part of that original generation of music videos. In fact, “Stray Cat Strut” was one of the Cats first videos to air. But even before MTV was unveiled, they were part of a handful of bands recruited to make promotional videos. They had no idea what they were getting into, but they loved it and so did the audience.
I thought Brian Setzer was a guitar virtuoso! So, I painted Setzer’s Gretsch guitar out of sheer respect. It made my day when his music manager bought a giclée reproduction of the original and gave it to Setzer as a birthday gift. Original painting size is 24 x 48 and full-size (and smaller) giclee on canvas reproductions are available. Contact me for custom sizes.

Shirley Manson – Garbage Alternative Rock
Check out a more detailed blog I wrote about this painting here. The short of it goes like this: I was waiting tables in college during the mid-90s the first time I heard “Stupid Girl.” I actually thought it was Madonna and felt weird that I liked something by her. For all you locals out there, this was during the peak of the Nashville’s greatest (albeit short-lived) alternative rock station, Thunder 94.
A few weeks later, my sister invited me to an event where she worked at the record label Almo Sounds in Nashville. She gave me a CD in a pink case with the word “garbage” across the top and added, “You’ll probably dig these guys.” The album title sounded a little self-defeating, but who was I to judge. So, I listened and there was that song I heard back at the restaurant! My sister was right. Garbage became my favorite band and I’ve been listening to them ever since.
When the time came to break from painting the country artists, I decided to do something a little more edgy and keep it for myself. So, who better to paint than Shirley Manson from my favorite band?!
Read my blog to see what happened when Shirley saw my painting for herself! This one is mine, but I offer reproductions in two standard sizes (12.5 x 9.5 and 17 x 13). Full-size (36 x 48) options are also available. Contact me for custom sizes.

Nite Owl
I’m friends with the local band Anthony Adams and the Nite Owls. They held an album release party and asked me to live paint an owl while they played. I had never done animal art before so I thought it would be a fun challenge to try my hand at an owl. I also thought the band would play for hours so I was prepped to paint for the night. As it turned out, they were just opening for an even better band. So, I only had one hour to get this owl churned out. But I work well under that kind of pressure.
My first try at animal art turned out great and was even auctioned off that very night! I’ve actually sold several prints of this owl. In fact, a woman who lives directly across from Central Park in New York City commissioned me to paint another one just like it, but much larger (50” x 50”). So, I brought Anthony Adams and the Nite Owls back to my studio to play and I live-painted it all over again while they played. I even streamed it live on YouTube so the client could watch from her NYC apartment. When I sent her the completed owl painting, I also mailed her the band’s newly released LP. Needless to say, she loved it!
