"Born To Run" - Bruce Springsteen Portrait
A few years ago, I had about 10 pieces hanging at a gallery on Music Row in Nashville. The gallery director suggested I add another into the mix: Bruce Springsteen. Now, I’m not a huge Springsteen fan, but I appreciate his work. I also trusted the gallery director, so I followed his advice. I decided to add him to my "Giants of Rock" series that included Paul McCartney and Bob Dillon. I chose to add Springsteen to this series because I was experimenting with light and shadow.
During the painting process, I was also playing with a pouring technique. That involves mixing fluid acrylic paint with an airbrush medium and then spraying it with water and sometimes alcohol. That’s what gives this Bruce Springsteen portrait such a distinguished look. Not to mention that shadow on half his face! It turns out that the gallery director was right. That portrait quickly sold to a woman visiting Nashville from New York City. Later, she commissioned two more paintings from me. What’s available here are reproductions in various sizes.
Original painting size is 36 x 48 and full-size (and smaller) giclee on canvas reproductions are available. Contact me for custom sizes.
