"Gimmie Shelter" | Portrait of Keith Richards
I’m a big Rolling Stones fan! Like The Beatles, they are one of those iconic bands who continues changing. I love that in musicians. Obviously, the Stones and The Beatles could not be more different in genres. But that kind of creativity gives me inspiration in my own work to keep trying new things and stretching myself as an artist. As for the Rolling Stones, I think “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” contains the single greatest guitar riff ever! Naturally, I had to paint Keith Richards.
I’m actually friends with the world-renowned photographer of this portrait, Barry Morganstein. This three-hour portrait was a live-painting project during an event at Refinery Nashville, located in the urban neighborhood Wedgewood-Houston, just two miles south of downtown Nashville. Print size is 19 x 25 and larger sizes are available upon request. Original painting size is 30 x 40 and full-size (and smaller) giclee on canvas reproductions are available. Contact me for custom sizes.
New from Roy Laws Art: Re-Creations!
So you love a painting, but the original is already home with someone else. What to do? I now offer to recreate the painting for you in the size and even colors you like. I even promise to drink beer and listen to loud music while I'm doing it to accurately match the environment the original was created. You can choose the "recreation" option below or contact me if you'd like something altered.
