SALE "Always On My Mind" - Willie Nelson
21 x 25 FINE ART PRINT (supplies limited)
When I was in high school, I worked in Nashville at Opryland USA amusement park for two years. This was in the early 1990s just before it permanently closed. They piped in old-school country music all over the park. I heard a lot of Willie Nelson there. I like him because he’s “outlaw country.” I’m not a fan of pop country. “Always On My Mind” was my favorite by him and I love that he’s a Music City icon.
When I first decided to jump into art, some family gave me a little start-up money to buy the good supplies I needed. Up to that point, I had only done tiny paintings and illustrations. But, I love change and decided that if I was going to do this, I may as well dive in head first. Willie Nelson was my first big painting and first sale. It was a huge portrait of nothing but Willie’s face on a 48” x 60” canvas. This was purely an experimental process to help me overcome my fears and doubts about painting and becoming a professional artist. I displayed the piece during a local art crawl. A couple purchased it that night and officially launched my art career. It was a huge boost to my confidence when I later discovered that they are serious art collectors with art from around the world.
In 2015 during the first Pilgrimage Festival near Nashville, I had the privilege of live-painting while Willie Nelson sang his outlaw country music. Initially, I was supposed to paint right in front of the stage, but at the last second, they moved me to a booth. I really didn’t care. I was just happy to be painting while one of my musical heroes performed right in front of me. It was definitely one of the high points in my art career. Original 48 x 60 giclee on canvas reproductions are available. This print is 27 x 21 with larger options upon request. Contact me for custom sizes.
